Work out at work

I’m pretty sure you’re aware that sitting for long period in front of a screen is pretty detrimental to your health. Humans are not designed to sit in this position and evolution is not going to change that!

😒

Sitting for long periods can cause issues with posture, leading to strain injuries which may need physical treatment and in a lot of cases time off work.

🤕

Breathing is also affected by bad posture which can have an affect on the nervous system and the function of abdominals and pelvic floor muscles.

🫁

Metabolism slows with the lack of movement making it less efficient at burning calories, regulating body temperature, feeling alert and mood.

🙃

These are just some of the physical impacts of sitting for long periods, BUT... with regular breaks away from your desk, movement and exercise you can improve or eradicate these issues. With as little as 20 minutes movement increasing your heart rate will encourage the release of endorphins improving mood and productivity and regular, consistent exercise will improve strength and fitness alleviating strain injuries, improving metabolism and generally physical and mental health.

💪

Workplaces have a responsibility to look after their employees physical and mental health and would encourage the opportunity to have higher morale and productivity amongst their employees.

🙌🏼

Ask your manager about workplace exercise classes or ask me to send them a proposal.
